Overview

In this Audit Senior role, you will be the key on-site contact for fieldwork within the Business Advisory Department, guiding the audit team and coordinating with clients. You will manage fieldwork progress, review work of junior staff, and escalate issues to ensure timely sign-off. You will identify audit risks and recommend improvements to client controls, while maintaining strong technical and professional standards. The opportunity blends hands-on audit leadership with ongoing technical development in a top-20 accountancy practice, offering impact across complex client engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop technical ability through webinars and updates on technical developments
  • Identify audit risks from background knowledge and client discussions and ensure appropriate work is performed
  • Review audit working papers of juniors during fieldwork
  • Lead fieldwork teams on larger or higher-risk clients
  • Be the first on-site contact for clients and address queries after fieldwork
  • Identify weaknesses in client systems and controls and propose improvements
  • Data processing and reconciliations at client premises and in office
  • Raise potential time overruns to the manager
  • Clear review points and address follow-up queries until audit report sign-off

Key requirements

  • Post-qualification audit experience
  • Experience as senior overseeing audits
  • Experience as on-site lead for fieldwork and managing juniors
  • Proficient with Pro Audit (auto automation) and CCH Accounts Production (ideally)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to provide timely, constructive feedback to fieldwork team
