A growing and forward-thinking accountancy practice in Torbay is looking for an experienced Accountant to join its friendly and supportive team.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of payroll clients, ensuring payrolls are processed accurately and on time, while also supporting the wider practice with bookkeeping and accounts work. The role would suit someone who enjoys variety and is confident working across payroll and general practice accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly payrolls.
- Managing new starters, leavers, statutory payments, pensions and auto-enrolment.
- Submitting FPS, EPS and other HMRC payroll submissions.
- Responding to payroll-related client queries.
- Maintaining accurate payroll records and documentation.
- Client bookkeeping and maintaining financial records.
- Bank reconciliations and general bookkeeping duties.
- Supporting with accounts preparation and other general practice work.
- Building strong, long-term client relationships.
About You
We’re keen to hear from candidates who have:
- Previous payroll experience, ideally within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau.
- Good bookkeeping and general accounts experience.
- Strong working knowledge of BrightPay.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and client service skills.
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- A proactive and collaborative approach.
