We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Assistant / Tax Trainee to join a growing tax team for an Accountancy Practice in Newport. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with some prior experience in a tax or accountancy role who is looking to further develop their career in taxation. A great opportunity for candidates working towards professional qualifications such as ATT or CTA with study support available.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of personal tax returns (Self Assessment) for a varied client portfolio
- Assisting with corporation tax computations and returns
- Supporting senior team members with tax compliance across multiple tax areas
- Liaising with HMRC on routine queries and correspondence
- Maintaining accurate client records and working papers
- Assisting with basic tax planning work as experience develops
- Meeting deadlines while ensuring compliance with internal procedures and professional standards
- Delivering a professional and responsive service to clients
Experience Required
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Excel and Word
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- Accountancy practice experience / studying towards ATT or CTA
