About the Role
We are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Practice Accountant to join a friendly and growing accountancy practice in Taunton. This is a varied, hands-on role that would suit someone with all-round practice experience who enjoys working closely with clients and being part of a small, collaborative team. The successful candidate will take responsibility for a broad portfolio of clients, delivering high-quality accounting and taxation services while building strong client relationships. There is genuine scope for progression within the firm for the right individual.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare year-end accounts for a varied portfolio of clients.
- Prepare personal and business tax returns.
- Complete bookkeeping and VAT returns.
- Process client payrolls and respond to payroll queries.
- Support clients with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements and compliance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing advice and support where appropriate.
- Liaise with HMRC and other third parties as required.
- Assist with the smooth day-to-day running of client portfolios and support the wider practice team.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
- Strong all-round knowledge of accounts, taxation, bookkeeping and payroll.
- Experience working directly with clients and confidence managing client relationships.
- Good understanding of Making Tax Digital (MTD).
- Ideally qualified to AAT level (or qualified by experience).
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive, team-focused approach with the ability to work independently.
