Autograph Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a growing manufacturing and engineering business in the Forest of Dean with the appointment of an experienced HR Officer / HR Advisor. You’ll work closely with employees and managers, providing practical advice while helping to improve processes, strengthen engagement and create a positive working environment. This is not purely an administrative position. You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership, share ideas and become a trusted point of contact across the business.

Your responsibilities

  • Provide practical advice to managers on HR policies and employee matters
  • Support employee relations cases, including absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance matters
  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding and employee changes
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
  • Support training, development and performance-review activities
  • Assist with payroll information, reporting and HR administration
  • Help review and improve HR policies and processes
  • Support wider people and culture projects
  • Promote an inclusive, engaged and high-performing workplace

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience in an HR Officer, HR Advisor or similar generalist role
  • A good understanding of HR processes and current employment legislation
  • Confidence supporting managers with employee matters
  • Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive and approachable working style
  • The ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • A CIPD qualification, or progress towards one, would be welcomed
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering or a similar environment would be advantageous but is not essential
