Within the Experience Foundations team for AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction), we are seeking an experienced and results-driven Director of User Experience Design who inspires great work, nurtures talent, and can bring people together in the creation and evolution of best-in-class experiences that customers love. Reporting to the Senior Director of User Experience, AEC Design Solutions, the successful candidate will have a strategic mindset, proven leadership experience, and a passion for promoting design thinking to drive alignment, innovation, and contribution to product strategy.

In this role you’ll partner with teams for Forma Design primarily as well as Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and others to introduce new and unified experiences to customers. You’ll lead a team focused on defining the experience of the Forma Design portfolio, aligning with products with the broader AEC portfolio, as well as introducing new agentic ways of working for our teams and our customers. To ensure success, you will be expected to work collaboratively and independently, locally, and globally. You understand how to facilitate the balance between tactical and strategic design priorities. You have solid negotiation and consensus-building abilities needed to gain cross-disciplinary leadership alignment. Responsibilities

  • Drive your team to articulate a design vision and evaluate alternate design approaches, considering the cost of implementation and the value to customers.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, engineering, and other design disciplines ensuring a frictionless development process and high-quality outcomes.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship and career stewardship for a team of user experience design professionals including interaction design.
  • Harness data and insight to drive priorities, personalization, and agentic experiences.
  • Develop high-performing teams on sizeable cross-functional and cross-organizational projects while managing stakeholders, risk, and uncertainty knowing how to bring the right people along across orgs and disciplines.
  • Be a thought leader, staying informed of emerging technologies and trends, to ensure alignment across Autodesk to deliver a cohesive and industry leading customer experience.
  • Navigate strong opinions and advocate for the team.
  • Experience fostering a collaborative mindset.
  • Strong focus on culture, team building and belonging, being an example to others.
  • 25% minimum travel to Oslo, Norway.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience across a variety of UX disciplines with 5+ years of global people management experience.
  • Design thinking skills and mastery of distilling highly complex ideas into a concise impactful manner.
  • Demonstrated leadership that supports and enables your team to effectively deliver to strategic objectives, developing skills, and structuring and hiring for future success.
  • Ability to influence, partner cross-functionally and champion design direction that aligns with strategic goals.
  • Previous creation and delivery of UX team strategies that directly impact product or platform deliverables and delight customers.

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
