Are you passionate about developing software engineers, solving complex technical challenges, and using emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development, to deliver software that makes a difference to customers? Autodesk Fusion Manufacturing is looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to lead the Rosewood team, responsible for developing and evolving the Fusion Manufacturing Tool Library. This core capability helps customers define, manage, and share cutting tools and associated data used in manufacturing workflows.

The team develops sophisticated software combining modern user interfaces, complex manufacturing data models, native desktop applications, and cloud service integrations. In this role, you will lead and develop an established team of software engineers, guide technical decisions, and drive delivery in collaboration with Product Management, Architecture, UX, and other engineering teams. We are looking for a people-focused, technically strong leader who values engineering excellence, understands customer needs, and embraces AI-assisted development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop software engineers through regular feedback, performance management, and career development.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Empower engineers to make decisions, solve problems, and continuously improve how the team works.

Technical Leadership

  • Develop a strong understanding of customer problems and manufacturing workflows, becoming a competent user of Autodesk Fusion and the capabilities your team develops.
  • Partner with Product Management and stakeholders to establish priorities, plan and drive delivery, manage dependencies and trade-offs, and communicate progress.
  • Guide technical and architectural decisions, working with senior engineers to deliver maintainable, reliable, and performant software across TypeScript/React, C++, and cloud service integrations.
  • Champion engineering excellence through code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and continuous improvement of development practices.
  • Remain technically engaged, contributing code, investigating problems, and developing proof of concepts when appropriate.

Innovation and AI-Assisted Development

  • Champion practical and responsible adoption of AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Claude Code, to improve engineering productivity and quality.
  • Lead by example, experimenting with AI-assisted workflows and encouraging the team to learn, share experiences, and continuously improve.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including hands-on development and delivery of production software.
  • 1+ years of engineering leadership experience, including formal people management or demonstrated experience leading and developing engineers.
  • Strong technical background in TypeScript/JavaScript and React, or C++, with the ability and willingness to work effectively across both technology stacks.
  • Experience developing complex software applications, with a solid understanding of software design, debugging, automated testing, and modern engineering practices.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted software development tools for coding, debugging, testing, or other engineering activities.
  • Experience with Agile development, planning, prioritization, and collaborative software delivery.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coaching, managing performance, and supporting the career development of software engineers.
  • Hands-on experience with both TypeScript/React and C++, particularly in complex, cross-platform applications.
  • Experience integrating applications with cloud services and REST APIs.
  • Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, performance optimization, and maintaining large production codebases.
  • Familiarity with CAD, CAM, CNC machining, or other engineering and manufacturing software.
