Role Summary
The Specialist, Emerging Technologies is a customer-facing specialist sales role focused on driving adoption, expansion, and commercial success of emerging and innovative technologies within the UK market. This role independently identifies, progresses, and closes opportunities while working closely with Account Executives (AEs), Account Technical Leads, and customer success teams. The role requires strong solution specialisation, commercial judgement, and the ability to position emerging technologies through compelling value, ROI, and outcome-based storytelling. It is suited to experienced sales professionals who can operate autonomously while continuing to deepen technical and market expertise in fast-evolving solution areas.
Key Responsibilities
- You manage innovation programs and boil down complex ideas into clear, concise and compelling solution stories that are aligned with our customers’ business values.
- You articulate and present these solutions with credibility to influence, educate and inspire Autodesk’s customers on our cloud solutions, as a valuable and central partner for their digital transformation.
- Ensure a consistent industry approach and influencing our long-term strategy, you partner closely with internal stakeholders like sales, industry strategy and marketing.
- You will package and position our offerings to ensure they deliver unique and differentiated value to the markets we pursue.
- As a respected thought leader, you align industry trends in AEC to broader digital transformation strategies.
- You represent Autodesk in BIM standardization bodies and industry initiatives and build industry relationships to maximize penetration and revenue on cloud services throughout the ecosystem.
Emerging Technologies Opportunity Ownership
- Independently identify, qualify, and drive sales opportunities for Emerging Technologies, including new business, upsell, and cross-sell motions.
- Actively grow pipeline and revenue through targeted opportunity identification and disciplined execution.
Co-Selling & Account Collaboration
- Collaborate with AEs, Account Technical Leads to support expansion and growth within existing customer accounts.
- Contribute Emerging Technologies expertise to account planning and opportunity qualification and progression.
Product & Technology Specialisation
- Provide in-depth product-specific expertise within assigned Emerging Technologies solution areas (e.g., Construction, Engineering Service Provider, Owners).
- Confidently articulate business benefits, features, use cases, customisation options, and business outcomes to customers.
Strategic Sales Planning & Competitive Positioning
- Develop and execute strategic selling plans to grow new revenue streams and scale adoption of Emerging Technologies.
- Position solutions competitively by clearly communicating differentiated and quantified value and Autodesk’s ability to solve customer business challenges.
Value-Based Selling, Storytelling & Negotiation
- Lead value discovery, ROI, and business outcome discussions throughout the sales cycle.
- Apply advanced storytelling techniques to position pricing, packaging, and solution value.
- Negotiate directly with customers or support AEs in complex commercial negotiations.
Forecasting & Commercial Discipline
- Maintain accurate forecasting, reporting, and pipeline management for Emerging Technologies opportunities.
- Apply sound commercial judgement to assess deal health, risk, and probability.
Minimum requirements
- Demonstrated experience selling technology, SaaS, or innovative solutions in a customer-facing sales or specialist role.
- Proven track record of overachievement of sales targets.
- Proven ability to independently identify, progress, and close complex sales.
- Strong product aptitude, with the ability to explain advanced features, proofs of concept, use cases, and basic customisations.
- Experience leading value-based and ROI-driven customer conversations.
- Commercial awareness, including direct or supported negotiation experience.
- Ability to operate effectively in emerging or evolving product areas, adapting quickly to new technologies and customer personas.
- Experience collaborating with account teams, technical specialists, and success teams within matrixed sales environments.
- Familiarity with UK customer buying behaviours and commercial practices.
