We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Engineering Technical Author Apprentice to join our Engineering Department. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on engineering experience while studying towards a Level 3 Engineering Design Technician qualification through day release at West Nottinghamshire College. Over the course of your apprenticeship, you'll develop valuable technical, engineering, and documentation skills while working alongside experienced engineers on real products and projects.

What You'll Be Doing

As part of our Engineering team, you'll learn how technical information supports the design, manufacture, testing, and release of engineering products. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with engineers and other departments to ensure documentation reflects product changes and improvements
  • Producing technical documentation to support new product releases
  • Creating and maintaining installation, user, and service manuals
  • Managing and maintaining Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) documentation
  • Supporting document control processes and ensuring information is accurate and up to date
  • Managing technical documentation across internal systems and platforms
  • Assisting with product data setup and integration activities
  • Supporting the communication of new product releases across the business
  • Maintaining core engineering documentation, including:
    • Installation Manuals
    • User Manuals
    • Factory Acceptance Test Documentation
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Fabrication Drawings and Models

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above, including Mathematics
  • Interest in engineering, design, manufacturing, or technology
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a structured and methodical manner
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Motivation to achieve high standards and develop professionally

  • Full UK Driving Licence
