The Role
We specialise in the design and manufacture of vehicle adaptations that allow people with mobility issues to get into and out of their cars. For the customers our products support, it allows them to maintain, and in many cases regain, their independence. We are a long-established business with over 40 years’ experience of designing and manufacturing a wide range of adaptations from boot hoists to hand controls. We are looking for someone to join our team to create new kits to fit our vehicle adaptative products. This is the perfect role for a confident, self-motivated person who enjoys the challenge of problem solving and can work to deadlines. You will design vehicle specific adaptations, focusing on customer usability, ease of on-site installation, and manufacturing repeatability throughout the design process. This is a great opportunity for someone with engineering skills and experience, a logical approach to design and an innovative approach.
Responsibilities
- Create new kit designs across the full group range
- Designs must be processed to the highest standard balancing ease and speed of install with manufacturing repeatability
- Design kits using standard parts where possible to minimise new parts creation
- Where new parts creation is necessary, liaise with the manufacturing team for parts sign off
- Develop and improve the kit design process, ensuring that the Kit Design Team delivers optimal results, both in terms of quality and quantity of designs produced
- Ensure prompt delivery of accurate and appropriate data to stakeholder process owners, in order to facilitate an expedient route to market for the designs
- Create jigs for new kit designs when necessary
Skills and Qualifications
- Engineering experience
- Able to read and create technical drawings
- Familiar with CAD systems
- Strong mechanical bias and comfortable using power tools
- Able to fabricate, cut steel, carrying out grinding and welding
- Solid knowledge of vehicle construction and functionality
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
