Auto West London is looking for an experienced Senior / Diagnostic Technician to join our growing Aftersales operation in Wandsworth.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled technician who is confident in diagnostics, fault finding, complex repairs and supporting the wider workshop team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality workmanship, supporting workshop efficiency, and helping to build a strong technical culture within the business.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in doing the job properly, communicates clearly, and can help drive standards as the Aftersales function continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out vehicle diagnostics, fault finding and repairs to a high standard.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and electronic faults across a range of vehicles.
  • Complete servicing, maintenance, warranty and repair work in line with manufacturer and business standards.
  • Support less experienced technicians with technical guidance and best practice.
  • Ensure all work is completed accurately, safely and efficiently.
  • Use diagnostic equipment, technical information systems and repair procedures correctly.
  • Maintain accurate job cards, technician notes and repair documentation.
  • Liaise with Service Advisors and the Aftersales Manager regarding repair progress, additional work and technical findings.
  • Carry out quality checks on completed work where required.
  • Help identify repeat faults, process improvements and workshop training needs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, workshop processes and company standards.
  • Support the growth and development of the Aftersales department as the business expands.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a Senior Technician, Diagnostic Technician or highly skilled Vehicle Technician.
  • Strong diagnostic ability, particularly with electrical and electronic vehicle systems.
  • Confident using modern diagnostic equipment and technical repair systems.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge across servicing, repairs and fault finding.
  • Good understanding of workshop processes, job card write-ups and repair documentation.
  • Ability to support and guide other technicians when required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to first-time fix.
  • Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • MOT Tester status would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • EV / Hybrid training would be advantageous but is not essential.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be technically strong, reliable and proactive. You will be comfortable dealing with complex faults and taking ownership of difficult diagnostic work. You will also understand the importance of clear communication, accurate notes and working closely with the front-of-house Aftersales team.

As this is a growing department, the role would suit someone who wants to be part of building something properly from the ground up, rather than simply joining an established workshop and "just doing the hours".

What We Offer

  • A key role within a growing Aftersales business.
  • Opportunity to help shape workshop standards and processes.
  • Supportive management team with a clear plan for department growth.
  • Brand and technical training opportunities.
  • Modern workshop environment in Wandsworth.
  • Opportunity for career development as the Aftersales operation expands.
  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • Private healthcare.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Company car scheme.
  • Retail discounts and employee benefits.
  • A positive working environment with the opportunity to be part of a business being built properly from the ground up.

Salary

Competitive package, dependent on experience, qualifications and diagnostic ability.
