You’ve probably heard of Autotrader, but do you know what we’re all about? We’re the most trusted, most visited automotive marketplace in the UK. A heritage brand and a tech innovator. We bring together vehicle buyers and sellers to give them real choices. Cars may be what we’re best known for but we’re also the place for pretty much everything else on wheels, from e‑bikes to caravans. In the automotive world, change is a constant, that’s why we take our job of untangling the complex car‑buying journey very seriously. At our core, we’re all about people. We go our own way while embracing diversity and celebrating our differences. We dedicate ourselves to the idea that we work better together. Autotrader is a beautiful, surprising and vibrant place to work. We might not be for everyone, but we could be perfect for you.
About the role: At Autotrader, performance marketing plays an important role in growing our platform, supporting our key products, and reaching the millions of people who use Autotrader every day. We’re looking for a Performance Marketing Lead to join our Consumer Marketing team in Manchester. We’re looking for a senior-level performance marketing professional to help shape our strategy, lead the team, and support our product and platform goals. This isn’t a channel operator role; it’s about thoughtful leadership, clear direction, strategic thinking and creating meaningful impact.
In this role, you’ll take responsibility for the performance marketing strategy across areas such as the marketplace, leasing, app growth, and other priority products, ensuring our activity aligns with wider business and product objectives. You’ll support and develop a team of performance managers, helping them grow their expertise and ensuring we maintain a consistent, high-quality approach across products and platforms. You’ll work across paid media, paid search, SEO and app growth, bringing a balanced view of scale, efficiency and long-term value. Collaboration will be a big part of your day-to-day, partnering with Brand, CRM/Growth, Content, Tech and Data teams to build joined-up plans, strengthen our approach to measurement and attribution, and keep performance activity connected rather than siloed. You’ll also work closely with our agency partners, setting clear expectations and supporting them to deliver their best work. This role will suit someone who enjoys leading, shaping and elevating performance marketing, not just running channels.
What we’re looking for: A marketing leader with a broad, modern understanding of how performance works across a platform business, not just a paid media experience. An experienced people leader who enjoys developing others and creating a positive, high-performing team environment. Someone who is very confident working with data, able to explore metrics, attribution, and trade-offs, and be able to communicate what they mean in a clear and coherent way to senior stakeholders. Someone who is passionate about what they do, keeps up to date with a fast-moving marketing landscape and is comfortable running controlled tests and experiments to find out what works (and what doesn’t). Comfortable working through complexity and turning product and business priorities into clear, actionable performance plans. Confident partnering with Tech and Data teams to improve measurement, experimentation and overall effectiveness. Experience in app growth (ASA, ASO, Google Play, App Store).
We’re offering a salary of £65,000 - £85,000 dependent on skills and experience, plus an additional 10% of your salary awarded to you in shares each year. These awarded shares will become yours in yearly instalments over the next three years, and you can choose to either sell them or keep them as shares. You'll have 28 days holiday per year, and that’s in addition to.
