We are recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join a well-established commercial vehicle maintenance operation in Goole. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified technician looking for a permanent night-shift position, with strong earning potential, overtime opportunities and ongoing technical development.
Working Hours
The role operates on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern:
- 4 nights on: 6:00pm-6:00am
- 4 days off
The Role
As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance and repair of HGVs and trailers, ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant and maintained to a high standard.
Duties will include:
- Servicing, inspection, maintenance and repair of HGVs and trailers
- Mechanical, electrical, electronic and hydraulic fault finding
- Diagnosing and repairing vehicle faults
- Electrical repairs and component replacement
- Welding and metalwork when required
- Preparing vehicles for MOT/DVSA inspections
- Accurately completing job cards and maintenance records
- Supporting apprentices and other members of the workshop team
- Carrying out repairs and inspections on workshop equipment when required
About You
The successful HGV Technician will have:
- NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent, or proven HGV Technician experience
- Previous HGV or commercial vehicle maintenance experience
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Good mechanical and electrical knowledge
- Ability to use hand and power tools confidently
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Class 1 licence desirable but not essential
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
