THE ROLE

As an Experienced Strip Fitter / MET Strip & Fit Technician, you will be responsible for the safe removal and refitting of mechanical, electrical, and trim components on accident-damaged vehicles, ensuring all repairs are completed to manufacturer-approved standards. Working as part of a skilled bodyshop team, you'll ensure vehicles move efficiently through the repair process while maintaining the highest levels of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Remove and refit vehicle mechanical, electrical, and trim components following manufacturer repair methods
  • Strip vehicles ready for Panel Beaters and Paint Technicians before rebuilding to factory standards
  • Diagnose damaged components and identify additional repair requirements
  • Ensure all removed parts are labelled, stored, and reinstalled correctly
  • Carry out quality inspections throughout the repair and rebuild process
  • Work closely with Vehicle Damage Assessors, Panel Beaters, Paint Technicians, and Workshop Controllers to maximise workshop efficiency
  • Ensure all repairs comply with manufacturer specifications, BS10125 standards, and company quality procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment while adhering to all Health & Safety and COSHH regulations

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for an experienced, quality-focused Strip Fitter who takes pride in delivering exceptional workmanship and ensuring every vehicle is rebuilt to the highest possible standard.

  • Previous experience as a Strip Fitter or MET Strip & Fit Technician within an automotive accident repair centre or bodyshop
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and trim vehicle systems
  • Experience stripping and rebuilding modern vehicles to manufacturer standards
  • Ability to interpret technical repair information and manufacturer repair methods
  • Ideally IMI and/or ATA qualified (advantageous but not essential)
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
  • Ability to work efficiently within a fast-paced production environment while meeting productivity targets
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and committed to delivering outstanding customer satisfaction
  • Full UK Driving Licence required
