Responsibilities
- Deliver food and goods to customers in a timely, professional manner and maintain excellent communication with customers, dispatchers, and team members.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and ensure the vehicle is clean and well-maintained; carry out house hold removals with a removals porter and, where applicable, assist with other removal duties.
- Drive a range of vehicles as required, including class C rigid removals vehicles and class 1/2/driver roles as specified; comply with safety, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Build great relationships with regular passengers and the community; contribute to a positive team environment and be part of a local, friendly delivery team.
- Work in a multi-drop environment delivering orders to customers across the North West; be prepared for long-distance removals (2-3 nights away per week) where applicable, with early starts but no late/very early hours returns.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, defect sheets, and vehicle checks; manage cash and card payments when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with customers and other team members regarding schedules and any issues that may arise; coordinate with dispatchers on schedules and routes.
Note: We do not allow alcohol to be consumed on board vehicles and restrict late-night/very early returns.
We are seeking qualified drivers for various roles, including HGV Class 1 drivers and Class 2 tipper work, with experience preferred and training provided where needed.
Classic job notes: early starts, day work with some shifts requiring night away, and opportunities to work within existing teams. Please ensure you have valid licenses and required qualifications (for example DCPC) where stated.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a truck driver or HGV driver; valid DCPC where required.
- Ability to navigate a range of routes and road conditions; excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws.
- Experience driving a range of vehicles is preferred; good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work unsociable hours, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends where required.
- Must be able to drive the vehicles specified (e.g., class 2 or class 1) and operate associated equipment with safety and professionalism.
