We are thrilled to have an opening for a male support worker to join our independent living model in Southbourne. In this rewarding role, you’ll be supporting an incredible group of three women and four men in their early to mid-twenties, each living independently in their own self-contained flat, while being part of a fun, social and supportive community together. From shared laughs and everyday achievements, to encouraging independence and building confidence, no two days are ever the same.
A Genuine Occupational Requirement applies under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010. This role is therefore only open to malecandidates, referring to the sex legally assigned at birth.
To be considered for this role, you must hold a Full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.

The role
Your role would be to help our residents transition from living at home to living more independently. You could be with preparing food, laundry, weekly food shopping, providing advice about work placements and day to day colleague interaction, day trips into the forest, attending workshops and clubs, cake tasting in local cafes, or going to watch the football in the Brewhouse. The options are endless!
This role would suit someone who is active and comfortable spending a lot of the day on their feet and who is genuinely passionate about encouraging independence and empowering the people we support.
As a valued member of our team, your role will involve a mix of meaningful support, from helping with daily routines to accompanying residents as they access the community and pursue their interests. You may also assist with administering medication to ensure their wellbeing.
Hours
Full Time
Mixture of shifts between 7am – 10pm - Monday – Sunday on a two week rolling rota which will include working alternate weekends and sleep ins (sleep ins come with an additional payment)
A day in the life of a Support Worker would include:
- Sharing your skills and life knowledge with the people we support to enable good life skills and independence when living in the community
- Maintaining consistent and accurate records regarding care plans, finances, appointments and medication
- Following the support plan in plan for each person we support to enable the person to feel comfortable and happy, adapting this as required based on change in behaviour
- Providing some elements of personal care from personal hygiene prompts, helping to bath and wash, medication
