Do you feel inspired to make a real difference in the lives of young adults? We are looking for a Female Support Worker to join our independent living service in Southbourne. This part-time role (22 hours per week) involves supporting seven residents—three women and four men—each living comfortably in their own self-contained flat.

A Genuine Occupational Requirement applies under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010. This role is therefore only open to females, referring to the sex legally assigned at birth. Please note: Autism Unlimited does not provide visa sponsorship.

The Role: As a Support Worker, you will provide day-to-day support tailored to the needs of each individual. The people you could be working with may have Autism, ADHD, or other associated learning needs and your support will play a key role in helping them build confidence and essential life skills. This role is perfect for someone with a warm, caring approach and a keen eye for detail - someone who enjoys staying active and is passionate about empowering others to live more independently.

Hours: This role would include a range of shifts between 7am – 10pm. You would be required to work alternate weekends and provide sleep ins (sleep ins come with an additional payment).

A day in the life of a Support Worker would include:

  • Sharing your skills and life knowledge with the people we support to enable good life skills and independence when living in the community
  • Maintaining consistent and accurate records regarding care plans, finances, appointments and medication
  • Following the support plan in place for each person we support to enable the person to feel comfortable and happy, adapting this as required based on change in behaviour
  • Providing some elements of personal care from personal hygiene prompts, helping to bath and wash, medication
