This post has become available due to a recent growth in pupil numbers for September, which gives us the exciting opportunity to expand our teaching team. Sutherland House School is a non-maintained specialist school for autistic children and young people aged 3-19. The school prides itself on creating personalised learning opportunities with a vision for reaching potential for each individual pupil. We offer small class groups, favourable staffing levels and excellent opportunities for training and professional development. The school has an Ofsted rating of Good. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Responsibilities
- As part of a supportive staff team, you will have a passion for improving the lives for autistic pupils and their families.
- Deliver highly person-centred education, supporting young people to develop the skills, confidence and independence they need for their next steps beyond school.
- Commitment to planning and delivering engaging lessons.
- Engage with a wide range of professionals, including therapists, to ensure all pupils are reaching their full potential.
- Hold responsibility for supporting and leading your team who will work towards person-centred planning for each individual pupil.
Qualifications
- Previous experience with supporting autistic pupils or teaching in an additional needs environment is desirable; however, full training and support will be given.
