About the role: We’re looking for a full-time Employment Coach based at our Head Office in Creswell. As an Employment Coach, you will be responsible for job coaching, providing opportunities, and offering support to individuals with autism. Interpersonal skills, coaching, and effective communication are key aspects of this role as well the flexibility to provide needed support for service users based on their needs. What will you do: Our Employment team provides one-to-one support to individuals that are diagnosed with autism or seeking a diagnosis. This will include both face-to-face and online meetings and the sourcing of sustainable employment opportunities for those that access the employment programme. This support can help people: * Access relevant training * Build confidence * Develop skills that make people ready for work * Carry out job searches * Get work experience / placements * Learn about job related issues and employment rights * Have one to one support whilst at placement or in the workplace * Identify reasonable adjustments in the workplace What we’re looking for: * Experience in job coaching, career counselling or equivalent * Strong Interpersonal Skills * Effective Communication abilities * Empathy and understanding of individuals with autism * Commitment to your own continuing professional development * Willing to support and promote the service at local events Most importantly… We want a strong advocate for equal opportunities in employment, someone who wants to make lives better for autistic people. The post-holder should be someone that is willing to help our service users navigate the barriers that neurodivergent people can experience while trying to find work. It’s not about finding any autistic individual any kind of work; we want to find employment opportunities that are sustainable and fulfilling. About Autism East Midlands: Autism East Midlands has been supporting autistic individuals and their families since 1968. We offer this support across the East Midlands, including Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, and Northamptonshire. Our services include residential and day services, family support, schooling, an employment service and much more. All staff at Autism East Midlands will be required to undergo two weeks of induction training when they start. New staff are also required to provide evidence of an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check prior to starting their role, which will need to be updated on a yearly basis
