This volunteer role supports the delivery of our charity’s Gala Ball, a key fundraising and awareness event. You can get involved in one area or both, depending on your interests and availability.

What are we looking for?

  • Professional experience in Event Management
  • Good communication skills and confidence speaking with people
  • A friendly, positive, and approachable manner
  • Organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic computer or email skills (useful for prize sourcing)
  • Enthusiasm for fundraising and supporting a great cause
  • Having local knowledge or contacts (Milton Keynes area and beyond) is helpful but not essential.

What will you be doing?

Before the event:

  • Sourcing prizes for our auction, raffle, or gift tree
  • Approaching local businesses for prize donations
  • Helping to secure “money-can’t-buy” experiences (for example, behind-the-scenes opportunities, exclusive experiences, or unique activities)
  • Building positive relationships with local businesses and supporters

On the night of the Gala Ball (12th June in Milton Keynes):

  • Supporting the smooth running of the evening
  • Selling gift tree prizes and encouraging guest participation
  • Promoting and supporting the silent auction
  • Collecting donations and payments
  • Providing general event support as needed
  • Setting up/packing down of the event and support with decorations

You are welcome to focus solely on prize sourcing or solely on the event night, or to be involved in both.

What training and support will be available?

  • A clear briefing on the charity, the event, and fundraising goals
  • Guidance, templates, and talking points to support approaching businesses
  • Ongoing support from the charity team and a named contact person
  • On-the-night guidance and clear instructions so you know what to expect

How much time do I need to invest?

This role is flexible. Prize sourcing can be done around other commitments over several weeks. Event night support will involve attending the Gala Ball on the evening itself. You can choose to help with either part or both, depending on your availability. We are happy to discuss a commitment that works for you.
