Are you passionate about helping autistic adults and those with learning disabilities achieve their desired potential? Autism Anglia, a well-established independent charity, is looking for a Senior Support Worker to join our dedicated team at our Peldon Campus in Colchester, Essex.
Location: Peldon Campus, Church Road, Colchester, CO5 7PT
Salary: £26,045.43 per annum full time equivalent (£13.50 per hour)
Hours: Full-time: 37 hours per week (overtime available)
Eligibility: Candidates must have a Full UK Manual Driving License and be eligible to work in the UK.
About The Role
- Work in partnership with the team to provide person‑centred, outcome‑focused support.
- Maintain the dignity, privacy, and wellbeing of each individual, assisting with personal care, health, and hygiene.
- Support individuals in a variety of activities, including sport, leisure, cultural and recreational events, day trips, and holidays.
- Ensure that the quality of support given meets the identified needs and that all relevant documentation is regularly reviewed, evaluated and amended as necessary.
- Assist with communication, sensory support, or psychological monitoring and interventions.
- Ensure all support plans, risk assessments, and documentation are accurate, up‑to‑date and reflective of individual needs.
- Follow Safeguarding procedures and act promptly on any concerns.
What We’re Looking For
- Have extensive experience as a Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant (HCA), Carer, Senior Support Worker, or Team Leader, preferably with autism or learning disabilities.
- Hold a full UK manual driving licence.
- Can identify and support the needs, wishes, and aspirations of individuals with communication needs.
- Are experienced in providing intensive behavioural support.
- Have strong communication skills and experience coordinating activities in the local area.
- Most importantly, we are looking for individuals with compassion, patience, and a genuine passion for empowering others.
