Movement and Wellbeing Instructor – The Connect Center

Are you passionate about helping autistic adults and those with learning disabilities achieve their desired potential? Autism Anglia, a well-established independent charity, is looking for a Music, Movement and Wellbeing Instructor to join our dedicated team at our Connect Center in Colchester. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with individuals to help them develop life skills, achieve personal goals, and thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

Location: Connect Center, Gosbecks Road, Colchester, CO 9JT

Salary: £23,652.06 per annum (£12.96 per hour)

Hours: Full-time: 35 hours per week

About The Role

  • Assisting with the day to day running of the Music, Movement and Wellbeing Department and other departments as required.
  • Encouraging and assisting the people we support to use the departments equipment and resources and to be involved in other activities such as team games and community activities, music-based activities and general wellbeing.
  • Planning a varied timetable of activities both in the Centre and out in the community to meet the needs of the students and their learning.
  • Creative thinking and new ideas to encourage and motivate students to achieve their goals in line with their learning and activity plan.
  • Working in conjunction with students key workers and families to plan activities based on their changing individual needs.
  • Preparing teaching materials, individuals communication aids and planning sessions.
  • Promoting and sustaining contacts with the local community.
  • Ensuring that each students work is monitored and is evaluated on an ongoing basis.

We Welcome Applications From Individuals Who

  • Minimum GCSE level including English and Maths.
  • Experience with individuals with ASD or Learning Difficulties would be highly beneficial.
  • Qualification in physical fitness and wellbeing or a keen working interest.
  • PTLLS qualification or similar teaching qualification highly desirable.
  • Have strong communication skills and experience coordinating activities in the local area.
  • Most importantly, we are looking for individuals with compassion, patience, and a genuine passion for empowering others.
