Colchester Autism Anglia and Doucecroft School, based in Colchester, are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Speech and Language Therapist. The post holder will enhance pupils’ communication skills and contribute to the ongoing development of therapeutic services under the direction of the Therapy Lead for autistic learners and associated mental health needs. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Therapy Assistants and other clinical professionals.
Location: Doucecroft School, Eight Ash Green, Colchester, CO6
Salary: £27,476 - £31,157 per annum (term-time only, plus additional training days)
Hours: 38.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year (term time only) plus 3 training days during school holidays
What The Role Involves:
- Manage an independent caseload, including complex learners
- Deliver high-quality individual and group speech and language therapy
- Provide indirect support, including staff training and supervision of assistants
- Work closely with education staff, families and multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective communication programmes
- Offer specialist advice to staff, parents and external professionals
- Maintain accurate records, prepare reports (including Annual Reviews) and contribute to audit and service development
- Support training initiatives and supervise students on placement
- Promote best practice, maintain confidentiality, and contribute to ongoing professional development
What We’re Looking For:
- A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
- HCPC registration and membership of RCSLT
- Experience working with autistic individuals
- Strong clinical knowledge of communication needs associated with autism
- Experience with interventions such as AAC, Intensive Interaction, signing and visual supports
- Experience contributing to EHCP/Annual Review reports (desirable)
- Supervision experience (advantageous)
