Autel UK is seeking a proactive and customer-focused EV Charger On-Site Maintenance Engineer to provide field-based technical support for Autel EV charging products across the UK and Ireland. The role will cover installation support, commissioning, preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and timely issue resolution to ensure safe, reliable charger operation and excellent customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site technical support for Autel EV charging products, including installation guidance, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and after-sales service.
  • Carry out routine inspections, preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and corrective repairs for AC/DC EV chargers and related low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Respond to customer technical issues and service requests, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication.
  • Support project delivery, including site assessments, system testing, commissioning, technical acceptance, and handover.
  • Collaborate with internal R&D, product, and technical teams to report field issues and support product improvements.
  • Prepare service reports, maintenance records, troubleshooting documents, and technical case summaries.
  • Deliver technical training and operational guidance to customers, partners, and internal teams when required.
  • Ensure all work complies with UK and Ireland electrical regulations, health and safety requirements, and company procedures.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Fully qualified electrician with recognised UK or Ireland electrical qualifications and proven experience in commercial or industrial electrical environments.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in EV charging infrastructure, electrical maintenance, new energy, field service, or a related technical environment.
  • Strong understanding of EV charging systems, electrical distribution, low-voltage electrical equipment, and field maintenance processes.
  • Familiarity with UK and Ireland electrical standards, safe working practices, and health and safety requirements.

Electrical Certifications and Compliance Requirements

  • Level 3 electrical installation or maintenance qualification, such as City & Guilds 2365/2330, EAL Level 3, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services, Electrical Installation, Electrical Maintenance, or equivalent apprenticeship-backed qualification.
  • AM2, AM2S, or equivalent end-point assessment.
  • Current BS 7671 Wiring Regulations qualification, commonly known as the 18th Edition.
  • Inspection and testing qualification, such as City & Guilds 2391, 2394/2395, or EAL equivalent.
  • ECS/JIB Gold Card or equivalent recognised electrician competence card.
  • Electrical safe isolation training and practical competence in lock-out/tag-out procedures, risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work processes.
  • EV charging installation qualification, such as City & Guilds 2919/2921, EAL EV charging qualification, or equivalent, is highly desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel frequently across the UK and Ireland.
  • Fluent English communication skills; additional European languages are advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with OCPP, charging management platforms, network communication protocols, and remote monitoring tools.
  • Experience working with AC chargers, DC fast chargers, and/or energy storage systems.
  • Knowledge of smart charging, load management, renewable energy integration, and grid-interactive charging solutions.
  • Experience supporting partners, installers, charge point operators, or fleet customers.
