Autajon Labels Royston, our award‑winning label printing subsidiary established in 1984, operates from Royston near Cambridge and employs 75 people. The role is based at this site, where you will lead the 15‑person Finishing Team that includes Rewinding, Packing and Despatch. You will report to the Finishing Supervisor who oversees the entire department.

Remuneration: £32,182.20 starting total remuneration (includes starting salary and shift allowance).

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Monday to Thursday: split shifts 06:00‑14:00 and 14:00‑22:00 (weekly rotating). Friday: early 06:00‑12:00 or late 12:00‑18:00.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate daily team activities in a finishing/production environment to ensure safe and efficient output.
  • Plan, allocate, and monitor workloads to meet production targets and deadlines.
  • Provide clear direction and support to operators to ensure tasks are completed effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, quality standards, and health & safety requirements.
  • Communicate effectively across the team and support smooth shift handovers.
  • Liaise with supervisors regarding production issues, delays, and operational risks.
  • Support delivery of KPIs, efficiency targets, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Operate and monitor finishing/rewinding equipment.
  • Carry out quality checks, identify defects, and elevate issues appropriately.
  • Report equipment faults or breakdowns promptly to minimise downtime.
  • Support team members to maintain smooth and efficient production flow.

Requirements:

  • Previous team leader or supervisory experience in manufacturing, printing, packaging or production.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and support a team to achieve production and quality targets.
  • Experience organising workloads and supporting efficient day‑to‑day operations.
  • Strong communication skills, able to work across teams and departments.
  • Experience working to KPIs, production schedules and performance targets.
  • Good attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures, SOPs and instructions consistently.
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to use production systems.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and deliver on‑time performance.
  • Experience supporting efficiency, cost control and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in a supervisory or team‑leader role within a manufacturing or print production environment is essential.
