The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal support to our London-based private credit team.
This role focuses on real estate debt, infrastructure debt and broader private credit investments across the UK and Europe.
Working closely with investment professionals and senior stakeholders, you will help ensure investments are effectively negotiated, documented and managed, while proactively identifying and mitigating legal risks.
You will operate as a trusted business partner, supporting investment activity from origination through to ongoing asset management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead legal workstreams for private credit investments, including real estate debt, infrastructure debt and corporate credit transactions.
- Manage legal and related due diligence processes for prospective investments.
- Advise on acquisition financing and related matters for real estate and infrastructure investments.
- Provide strategic legal advice on existing investment portfolios and ongoing investment management activities.
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of transaction and financing documents.
- Risk Management & Governance
- Identify, assess and elevate legal risks associated with investment activities.
- Work with internal stakeholders and external advisers to ensure legal risks are appropriately managed and mitigated.
- Ensure investment documentation is accurate, complete and appropriately maintained.
- Support the development and implementation of legal processes, controls, precedents and governance frameworks.
- Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with investment teams across London and global offices.
- Act as a trusted adviser to investment professionals and senior stakeholders.
- Manage relationships with external law firms and due diligence providers.
- Monitor developments within private credit markets and communicate relevant legal and regulatory considerations to stakeholders.
About You
You'll be a commercially minded legal professional with significant experience advising on complex financing transactions and investment structures.
You are comfortable working autonomously, managing multiple priorities and engaging confidently with senior stakeholders.
- What You'll Need
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
- Significant exposure working in private practice or in-house investment legal roles.
- Strong experience across infrastructure financing, real estate financing, corporate credit and/or structured finance transactions.
- Extensive knowledge of lending and financing documentation, including:
- Credit agreements
- Guarantee arrangements
- Intercreditor agreements
- Recognition agreements
- Related financing documents
- Excellent commercial judgement and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex transactions and multiple workstreams.
- High-level understanding of due diligence and regulatory frameworks.
