Our London office plays a critical role in supporting the Fund's growing international investment portfolio, and we are looking for an experienced Tax Specialist to join our Tax team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, focusing specifically on Compliance & Governance.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Investments Tax, you will be responsible for overseeing UK tax compliance and governance activities across AustralianSuper's growing portfolio of direct investments, holding structures, and UK-based entities. This is a hands-on role where you will help design and enhance tax compliance frameworks while supporting the Fund's continued international expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate end-to-end tax compliance activities across UK and European entities.
- Oversee UK corporation tax compliance, including QAHC, CIR, anti-hybrid, and group relief requirements.
- Manage tax accounting, reporting, VAT compliance, withholding tax filings and other regulatory obligations.
- Partner with internal stakeholders across Investments, Finance, Legal and Operations teams.
- Manage relationships with external tax advisers and investment managers.
- Support the development of tax governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Identify, assess, and manage tax risks, ensuring robust controls and governance processes are maintained.
- Contribute to Board and senior leadership reporting on tax matters.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tax compliance and reporting processes globally.
About You
You are an experienced tax professional who thrives in a dynamic, evolving environment and enjoys building processes, solving complex problems, and influencing stakeholders. You will bring:
- Relevant degree with ACA/CTA or equivalent professional qualification.
- Significant experience in UK corporate tax compliance and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of UK corporation tax, partnership taxation, VAT, and employment tax requirements.
- Experience managing tax compliance across investment structures, SPVs, corporate entities and complex groups.
- Exposure to European tax compliance matters.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders.
- A proactive, self-starting mindset and ability to work effectively in a growing international team.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on risk management and governance.
