About Us: AustralianSuper’s purpose is simple: to help members achieve their best possible retirement outcomes. As one of the world’s largest pension funds, operating within Australia’s $3.9 trillion superannuation industry, we are navigating a rapidly evolving landscape shaped by regulation, technology, and changing member expectations. Our Data Services function is a newly established capability responsible for building a best-in-class data governance, management, and operations framework across the Fund. Based in London, this role supports the global investment function by ensuring the accurate, timely, and reliable delivery of investment data to decision-makers and analytical teams.
The Opportunity: This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing investment data capability at a pivotal stage of its development. As an Analyst, Investment Data Services UK, you’ll play a key role in enabling trusted investment data across front-office, operational, and analytical teams. You’ll work across data acquisition, mastering, production, and governance — operating as a subject matter expert on investment data platforms and collaborating closely with technology, investment, and operations stakeholders.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Undertake daily control tasks and monitor database updates to ensure accurate and timely data delivery.
- Troubleshoot data pipeline disruptions with technology teams and communicate impacts to downstream users.
- Validate security setups in fund data warehouse systems, translating term sheets and loan agreements, and updating systems with correct values.
- Maintain portfolio setups and internal structures (fund & pricing hierarchies) across platforms.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve data exceptions and quality issues; elevate as needed and represent the team in issue management forums.
- Perform investment data interrogation and reconciliations using modern tools; investigate breaks with operational teams and vendors.
- Liaise with data vendors, custodians, and investment teams to resolve data and reporting issues, ensuring SLAs are met.
- Evaluate business requests for new data and participate in design, implementation, and testing of data solutions.
- Recommend and implement improvements to data collection, maintenance, timeliness, and reporting.
- Act as a subject matter expert in sourcing, validating, and governing data.
- Identify and apply new technologies to improve data management and reporting processes (including Microsoft Power Automate).
- Operate on ad-hoc data management and reporting requests from the Data Services department.
- Nurture and maintain internal relationships across all levels of the Fund, collaborating locally and internationally.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislative and organisational requirements, and advocate for continuous improvement in governance and risk management.
What You’ll Bring: You’re a detail-oriented and analytically minded data professional who enjoys working with complex investment data, improving data quality, and partnering across teams to deliver meaningful outcomes. To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
- Experience in investment management or asset owner within a data operations capability.
- Strong understanding of financial markets and instruments across multiple asset classes.
- Experience with investment and data platforms such as Finbourne LUSID and Informatica.
- Exposure to market and investment platforms such as Aladdin (highly desirable), MSCI BarraOne, S&P Ilevel, or Calypso (essential).
- Solid understanding of ETL processes, data acquisition, and data mastering concepts.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the differences between IBOR and ABOR and their application within asset management environments.
- Working knowledge of SQL, Python, and APIs.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence through data knowledge and attention to detail.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to contribute effectively within cross-functional teams.
Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in STEM, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a numerate discipline (mandatory). CFA (or candidate) and data science training are viewed favourably.
