About the role
We are looking for a commercially minded Category Insights Manager to join our UK team, based in our London Bridge office. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping category strategy across the UK, Ireland and Europe, partnering with both internal teams and major retailers to unlock growth opportunities. Sitting at the intersection of category, shopper insight and commercial strategy, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys turning data into commercially relevant insights and recommendations. Working across a diverse portfolio of brands and customers, you’ll use market, shopper and retailer insights to influence decision‑making, and identify opportunities across range, pricing, promotion and merchandising. At AV, you’ll join a collaborative and fast‑moving environment where curiosity, initiative and fresh thinking are valued. You’ll work closely with Sales, Marketing and senior stakeholders, while continuing to grow your category and insights expertise within a supportive team. We operate a hybrid working model, with 3 days in office and 2 days from home, offering a balance of flexibility and collaboration.
What you’ll do
- Take ownership of key areas of the category, delivering insight‑led recommendations aligned to shopper needs and retailer priorities.
- Lead and support category reviews, identifying opportunities across range, space, pricing and merchandising.
- Turn complex data into clear, commercially actionable insights and recommendations.
- Leverage multiple data sources (e.g. NIQ, Dunnhumby, retailer platforms) to uncover category opportunities and performance insights.
- Monitor category and market trends, highlighting risks and opportunities.
- Build strong working relationships with internal teams and retail customers.
- Influence retailer conversations through compelling, insight‑led storytelling.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing and Supply Chain to deliver aligned category plans.
- Champion the voice of the shopper in day‑to‑day decision making.
What you’ll bring
- Experience in a category, insights or commercial role, ideally within FMCG or retail.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience working with data sources such as NIQ, Kantar or retailer platforms.
- Ability to translate data into clear insights and recommendations.
- Understanding of UK grocery retail and experience working with retailers such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons.
- Strong analytical, presentation and storytelling capability, particularly across Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Power BI or similar tools is a plus.
- Good stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to build relationships and communicate effectively.
- A commercial mindset and interest in shopper and market dynamics.
- A proactive and driven approach, with the ambition to take ownership and grow within the role.
