Psychologist – Senior (Geriatric Evaluation and Management and Acute Cognitive Unit)
Location: Southport
Remuneration: $64.64 – $69.55 per hour
The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Psychologist – Senior (Geriatric Evaluation and Management and Acute Cognitive Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13,000-strong team is on providing world‑class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Deliver high level psychological assessment, diagnosis, formulation and intervention
- Provide profession specific advice regarding management of patients and service delivery
- Use and model high level problem‑solving and critical thinking to resolve complex problems
- Actively participate in required data monitoring and collection
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
- Tertiary degree in Psychology (or equivalent)
- AHPRA Registration
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against – Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Driver Licence
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

About Us
The Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) unit provides patient‑centred, evidence‑based multidisciplinary assessment and management for older persons living with comorbidities and/or complex needs. The Acute Cognitive Unit (ACU) provides a safe, suitable and secure clinical environment to reduce severity of behavioural and psychological symptoms in patients with cognitive impairment, dementia, and delirium. The ACU adjoins the GEM unit to ensure safe and efficient transfer of patients once the acute phase of their behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia has stabilised.
