About the Role

In this 12-month maternity relief position, you will join the Newcastle Herald’s award-winning team of journalists in providing the region’s most comprehensive local coverage of news, entertainment, business, lifestyle, sport, and opinion. You’ll be working closely with photographers, the news director, and the senior deputy editor to research and write exclusive stories, and produce video and other content that captures the attention of our audience and resonates with our community.

What You’ll Bring

You will bring a passion for storytelling and practical experience in journalism. You will have a relevant university qualification, or be working towards one, and a good knowledge of news and current affairs, especially the stories that matter to the Hunter. You will bring exposure to or a willingness to learn about digital platforms and an enthusiasm for the fast-paced news environment. You will be curious about the world around you and not shy away from a challenge.
