We’re recruiting experienced Pastoral Managers to support the delivery of a large-scale summer programme for young people. Leading a team of mentors, you’ll oversee safeguarding, manage evening and weekend activities, and ensure a high-quality pastoral experience. This fast-paced, hands-on role is ideal for confident leaders with experience in education or youth settings, who thrive on responsibility and delivering engaging, well-run programmes.
PASTORIAL MANAGER ROLE:
- Supervising up to 50 pastoral mentors, leading daily briefings and debriefings, allocating shifts and monitoring attendance and behaviour.
- Acting as the first point of contact for mentor queries while managing working hours, sign-in and sign-out processes and payroll records.
- Overseeing the delivery of the Global Summer School social programme, including evening and weekend activities.
- Managing participant logistics, including breakfast and dinner sittings, while ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Supporting the pastoral wellbeing of participants and mentors and maintaining a safe, inclusive environment across programmes.
- Assisting the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Programme Manager with safeguarding, risk assessments and behavioural incidents, including taking statements and supporting investigations.
- Reporting and following up on safeguarding concerns in line with policies, while representing the organisation professionally and supporting overall programme delivery.
PASTORIAL MANAGER ESSENTIALS:
- Demonstrating experience managing and leading teams, motivating members and driving performance.
- Supporting students through challenges, including homesickness, anxiety and behavioural issues with a pastoral and empathetic approach.
- Planning and delivering social programmes and trips, including sports, day activities and evening events for student groups.
- Applying a strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and identifying and reporting potential concerns appropriately.
- Managing student behaviour and implementing disciplinary and safeguarding procedures in line with policy.
- Delivering complex event coordination within educational settings, ensuring smooth organisation and safe participation.
- Applying strong knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment procedures and the objectives of pre-university summer programmes.
