As a full-service insurance firm, our client is highly recognised for its strength across various lines of insurance. With a firm wide ambition to grow in line with its successes, the London office is central to this strategy.
The Professional and Financial Risks team is predominantly based in London and advises on a range of claims against a variety of different professionals including solicitors, conveyancers, surveyors, architects and engineers. It also regularly advises on some very large and complex policy issues.
The Role:
The Professional Indemnity department is seeking to recruit a Solicitor (2-4 PQE) to assist the existing members in the growing Professional Indemnity Team in London. With genuine ambition and a strong client list, this team has achieved significant growth in recent years.
The role will involve running a caseload of smaller professional indemnity claims as well as assisting lead partners with high value and multi-party claims.
There is early client contact and likely to be significant secondment opportunities in the future.
Key Accountabilities:
- Handling their own smaller matters
- Liaising with the Insured and Insurers
- Dealing with disclosure
- Reviewing evidence
- Conducting investigations
- Instructing Counsel/Experts
- Research
- Attending conferences and Trials with Counsel
- Dealing with routine correspondence
- Court appointments
- To ensure compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct 2011 and relevant Service Standards
Key Requirements:
- Previous defendant professional indemnity experience (2-4 years PQE)
- An ability to prioritise workload
- An ability to communicate in writing and prepare succinct and concise reports
- Ability to pay attention to detail
- Ability to work with case management systems
- The personal skills to deal with such work as major and expensive litigation involving liaison with senior claims handlers
- Legal qualification required i.e. Solicitor / FILEX or equivalent
