The Client
Our client is a large commercial practice known for its work across all premium insurance lines, including professional indemnity. The Leeds office has long played a key part in our client's strategy to grow their insurance offering across the regions and that is set to continue. The team advise on a range of claims against a variety of professionals, including solicitors, brokers, accountants, conveyancers, surveyors, architects and engineers. They also advise on complex policy issues. The team have a strong client list, including both insurance and corporate clients, and have achieved significant growth in recent years. Presently, they are busier than ever.
The Role
As above, our client's team in Leeds has grown significantly in recent years and, to that end, the partners wish to recruit a highly experienced lawyer to work alongside them. The role will involve running a caseload of professional indemnity claims, supervising junior lawyers and playing a leading role in supporting the team's ever-growing client base.
Key Requirements:
- Previous defendant professional indemnity experience (10+ PQE)
- An ability to prioritise workload
- An ability to communicate in writing and prepare succinct and concise reports
- Ability to pay attention to detail
- Ability to work with case management systems
- The personal skills to deal with such work as major and expensive litigation involving liaison with senior claims handlers
- Legal qualification required – solicitor/FCILEx
Desirable:
- Willingness to play a role in the development of client relationships and of the practice as a whole.
- Claims handling experience (via a previous secondment or otherwise).
