The Client: This market-leading insurance disputes team specialises in policyholder representation in complex high-value insurance claims in a range of business lines, including property, casualty, energy and construction, business interruption, products and environmental risks, and financial lines. They act in some of the most technically demanding and high-profile coverage disputes, testing novel legal issues with market-wide significance, and pursuing enterprise-critical claims through litigation, arbitration and ADR.
The Role: Construction remains a consistently busy line of insurance, heavily influenced by fire safety claims, with many still navigating the courts more than eight years after the Grenfell disaster. Our client is seeing a constant flow of instructions from a range of construction entities and is actively seeking to recruit a senior individual to lead on construction claims. There will be regular meetings with a diverse range of clients in addition to speaking appointments. Whilst this will be a senior appointment for either a Partner or Legal Director, there is no need for a portable client following. There is a significant number of instructions that a senior individual can immediately take responsibility for with full support to growing construction sector strength. This is a rare and exciting opportunity in a dynamic team for a Construction Insurance or pure Construction Litigator to take a lead. There is great potential to develop the Construction practice from an already strong foundation working with and supervising talented junior team members.
Key Requirements:
- 7+ PQE
- Strong grounding of construction litigation or construction insurance experience. From the insurance perspective, experience in either insurer or policyholder matters.
- Demonstrable experience of active business development, client relationship management and client/market presentations.
- Well organised, uses initiative, prioritises appropriately, applies self, shows attention to detail, manages own workload and meets deadlines.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Shows sound judgement and decision-making skills; acts within boundaries.
- Shows commitment, passion and enthusiasm.
