VAT AM or Manager – London office of an international firm.
Are you VAT Senior/Assistant Manager or newly promoted Manager seeking an advisory focused role shadowing a respected and experienced VAT Partner who has been instrumental in the career paths of senior positions in the field?
Based near London Bridge, the London office of our client was formed more than fifty years ago and provides a full range of accounting, audit, tax, advisory and international services. The firm stands at the forefront of VAT consulting, bringing 40 years of specialist knowledge to businesses across a wide range of sectors in the UK and internationally. The division provides a comprehensive approach which transcends traditional tax advisory, offering strategic, forward-thinking solutions. The service is headed up by a VAT Partner that brings 40 years of indirect taxation expertise from HMRC, Big 4 and mid-tier firms in addition to chairing one of the worlds largest professional indirect tax networks.
Responsibilities
- Primarily a VAT consulting role, albeit there is some VAT compliance work for clients (currently less than 10% of all work).
- Undertaking VAT consulting and compliance work in support of the VAT Partner and firm.
- Attending client and prospect meetings with the VAT Partner and doing work arising from these meetings.
- Carrying out client VAT reviews for the firm’s audit, accounts and tax clients, producing brief reports based on prepared/templated documents, and doing work arising from these reviews.
Requirements/Qualifications
- A minimum of three years’ experience working for a law firm, accountancy firm or HMRC.
- Experience in general accounting firm, with clients in VAT amenable sectors including international Trade, Land, Property and Construction, Events Organisations, Media and Entertainment, and Sport.
- If from a HMRC background, you will have 2 or more years “control/visiting officer” experience.
