Our client is an established, high-end interior design company based in Hungerford. We design and deliver bespoke luxury residential projects for clients locally and internationally. Because our projects involve high-value procurement, global sourcing, and complex multi-currency transactions, we require a robust financial hand at the helm.

We are looking for a skilled, commercially minded part-time Company Accountant to take full ownership of our internal finance function, moving us beyond simple bookkeeping to strategic financial management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Management Accounts: Prepare, analyse, and present comprehensive monthly management accounts to the Managing Director. Monitor project profitability, analyse variances, and provide clear commentary on cash flow forecasting and margins.
  • Sales Ledger & Credit Control: Oversee the entire billing process, including complex client staging invoices, retainer deposits, and design fees. Proactively manage credit control to ensure healthy, predictable cash flow while maintaining excellent client relationships.
  • Purchase Ledger & Procurement Tracking: Take ownership of the purchase ledger, reconciling high-volume trade supplier accounts, artisans, and specialist contractors. Ensure all project-related expenditures are accurately coded against specific client budgets.
  • International Payments & Multi-Currency: Manage international supplier payments and handle multi-currency transactions. Mitigate foreign exchange risks and ensure accurate conversion tracking within our accounting systems.
  • Compliance, VAT & CIS: Oversee all statutory compliance, including quarterly VAT returns (with potential margin scheme implications) and CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) submissions for contractors.
  • Year-End & External Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for our external accountants, preparing clean, audit-ready year-end trial balances and schedules.
Requirements & Experience
  • Professional Qualification: CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or senior AAT/QBE (Qualified by Experience) with a strong track record in a similar industry accountant role.
  • Industry Background: Ideally from an SME business with hands-on experience in a sole finance role.
  • International Finance Exposure: Proven experience handling international payments, managing foreign currency accounts, and accounting for import duties/VAT.
  • Software Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Xero and Excel.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights for non-financial creatives.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary (£40,000 - £50,000 pro-rated salary per annum, depending on experience and qualifications).
  • Part-time role with flexibility.
  • A beautiful, professional studio environment in the heart of Hungerford.
  • A high degree of autonomy to shape and improve our internal financial systems.
