A specialist commercial fit-out and refurbishment contractor is looking to appoint a Design Manager to support the delivery of complex workplace refurbishment projects across London. This role will initially sit within an established project team on a technically demanding Cut & Carve scheme, working closely with a Senior Design Manager while taking ownership of key design packages from pre-construction through to completion.
The position would suit someone currently operating as a Design Manager, Assistant Design Manager or Technical Coordinator within commercial fit-out or refurbishment, looking to step into a role with greater ownership and long-term progression.
The Role
- You’ll be responsible for coordinating allocated design packages throughout delivery, ensuring information is technically robust, buildable, compliant and aligned with programme requirements.
- The role will involve close coordination with architects, consultants, subcontractors and internal delivery teams, managing design interfaces and driving actions across live project workstreams.
- You’ll also gain exposure to:
- Structural alterations
- Existing building constraints
- Strip-out works
- Services integration
- Construction sequencing
- Design Release Schedules (DRS)
- Technical coordination within live refurbishment environments
What They’re Looking For:
- Experience within a Design Manager, Assistant Design Manager or Technical Coordinator position within a Main Contractor
- Commercial fit-out, refurbishment or Cut & Carve project experience
- Strong understanding of construction detailing and buildability
- Experience coordinating consultants and subcontractors within live projects
- Revit and BIM coordination experience
- Organised and proactive approach with strong technical problem-solving ability
