The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Cardiff. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects, developing innovative structural solutions, and working collaboratively with clients, architects, and other design disciplines.
You’ll be involved in a varied portfolio of projects across a range of sectors, with the opportunity to take a leading role from concept through to construction.
The role
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will:
- Lead the structural design and delivery of projects from concept through to completion.
- Develop efficient and practical structural solutions across a range of materials, including steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
- Manage and coordinate structural engineering projects, programmes and deliverables.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
- Liaise with clients, architects, contractors and other consultants.
- Prepare and review calculations, specifications, drawings and technical reports.
- Undertake site visits, inspections and provide technical advice during construction.
- Contribute to project proposals, fee estimates and business development activities.
- Help maintain high standards of technical quality, health and safety, and professional practice.
About you
We’re looking for someone who has:
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Significant experience working in a structural engineering consultancy or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK structural design standards and building regulations.
- Experience designing structures in a range of common materials.
- Excellent technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing projects and working directly with clients.
- The ability to mentor and support less experienced engineers.
- Chartered Engineer status, or a clear commitment to achieving chartership, is desirable.
