Commercial Sales Director
We’re looking for an ambitious, commercially driven Sales Director to lead an established B2B sales function through its next phase of growth.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll lead a team of eight and take ownership of the performance, retention and organic growth of an established customer portfolio.
This is not a new-business role.
The opportunity is to maximise what’s already there - growing existing accounts, increasing share of wallet, improving margin and building stronger, more strategic customer relationships.
- What you'll own
- Sales & margin: Own the annual revenue and product margin budget.
- Growth: Deliver sustainable organic growth across the existing customer base, with a minimum 2.5% BAU growth target.
- Customers: Strengthen key relationships and lead major tenders, negotiations and strategic opportunities.
- Leadership: Lead, coach and develop a team of eight, raising performance and accountability.
- Commercial discipline: Bring pace and rigour to forecasting, pipeline management, pricing and CRM.
- Strategy: Identify where the biggest opportunities sit and turn them into measurable growth.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain and Finance to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
What we're looking for
You’ll be an experienced Sales Director, Head of Sales or senior sales leader with a strong track record in B2B, distribution or a related environment.
You’ll bring
- Proven experience growing and retaining an established customer portfolio.
- Strong commercial, analytical and negotiation skills.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing sales teams.
- Confidence managing complex deals, tenders and multi-site contracts.
- A hands-on approach — comfortable in the boardroom and in front of customers.
- Strong understanding of pricing, margin and profitability.
- Experience with CRM and BI tools.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.
Experience in a family-owned, entrepreneurial or fast-growth business would be particularly valuable.
Why this role?
This is a genuine opportunity to shape the next chapter of a successful, growing business.
You’ll have the autonomy to influence strategy, develop the sales team, deepen key customer relationships and create a more disciplined, high-performing commercial operation.
If you’re a sales leader who wants real ownership, real influence and measurable results, we’d like to hear from you.
