Carry out hands-on service, installation, planned maintenance, fault-finding and repairs on commercial and domestic mechanical building services systems and associated equipment. Support the company by completing work safely, efficiently and to a high standard, while helping customers keep their systems operating reliably.
- Work as part of the engineering team, sharing practical knowledge and helping service engineers, trainees and junior colleagues where required.
- Work closely with service and branch managers, the sales engineering team and members of the P&R Group staff to complete jobs effectively.
- Deal directly with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and other site contacts in a professional and practical manner.
- Based from 3 Woodside Business Park, Thetford Road, Ingham, IP31 1NR, and working at customer sites as required.
- The role is practical and site-based, involving travel to and from customer premises.
- A flexible approach is required, including reasonable additional hours where needed to complete work and support customer requirements.
- The role may require travel and occasional overnight stays with notice.
- Carry out service, planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, fault-finding and repairs on commercial and domestic mechanical building services systems.
- Install, refurbish and commission mechanical services equipment and associated plantroom systems.
- Work on heating and hot water systems, pumps, pressurisation units, expansion vessels, valves, pipework, distribution systems, ventilation, air handling equipment, air conditioning, refrigeration plant, water treatment equipment and BMS-controlled mechanical systems.
- Carry out mechanical pipework installations using copper, carbon steel, stainless steel and plastic pipework systems.
- Use technical drawings, schematics and specifications to understand the job and complete the work correctly.
- Report clearly to the Branch Manager or Service Manager on equipment condition, faults found, work completed and any recommended repairs, upgrades or replacements.
- Complete job cards, work reports, maintenance reports, timesheets and other required paperwork accurately and on time.
- Communicate clearly with customers and end users while on site, keeping them informed where appropriate.
- Identify practical opportunities for repairs, improvements or follow-on work that support customer needs and company growth.
- Work with other members of staff to support Austin Heating & Cooling standards, values and objectives.
- Help trainees, junior engineers and colleagues by sharing practical guidance and site experience where required.
- Carry out plumbing, ventilation, heating, air conditioning and other associated building services maintenance tasks where required.
- Follow Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices when working on mechanical building services, HVAC and associated plant.
- Work safely on site and help ensure colleagues and other engineers follow safe systems of work.
- Use tools, equipment and plant correctly, ensuring they are kept in suitable condition and test status.
- Raise any site safety concerns, equipment issues or practical improvements that could help improve working practices.
- Training will be provided where applicable to develop practical and technical skills relevant to the role.

- Experienced engineers may be asked to support trainees and other engineers with practical coaching, site knowledge and technical guidance.
- Full clean UK driving licence.
- Enhanced DBS check.
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 3, or equivalent practical qualification in Plumbing, Heating, Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering or similar equivalent.
- Practical experience working on commercial mechanical services systems.
- Good understanding of site Health & Safety requirements and safe systems of work.
- Ability to read and work from technical drawings and schematics.
- Good fault-finding and practical problem-solving skills.
