This Authorising Engineer role, based from home with travel across the UK as required, focuses on providing independent, professional guidance across specialist engineering disciplines. The position is responsible for applying, auditing, and overseeing compliance with defined Safety Rules and Procedures across client sites. The role involves assessing and certifying Authorised Persons (APs), conducting system audits, and supporting operational and technical safety standards. It requires strong attention to detail, excellent technical knowledge, and a proactive approach to maintaining and improving safe systems of work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and certify individuals for appointment as Authorised Persons.
- Monitor the competence and performance of APs through formal and informal reviews.
- Conduct system audits and issue compliance reports.
- Maintain records of appointments, suspensions, and operational experience.
- Support clients by advising on best practices, procedures, and risk management.
- Review and interpret Safety Rules and Procedures across all relevant systems.
- Provide technical input into equipment specifications and maintenance planning.
- Investigate incidents and identify corrective actions.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory updates and communicate relevant changes.
Preferred Ideal Experience & Skills Required
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Strong technical background in engineering systems.
- Experience acting as or supporting the Authorising Engineer function.
- Sound understanding of Safety Rules and industry compliance frameworks.
