Austin Dean Recruitment is currently recruiting an experienced, prison-cleared Pharmacy Technician to support a busy male reception estate within a secure custodial healthcare setting (prison). This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and organised Pharmacy Technician who is familiar with prison healthcare processes and thrives in a fast-paced, structured environment.
Responsibilities
- Dispense and assemble medicines accurately in line with prescriptions and SOPs
- Support medicines reconciliation for new prison receptions
- Manage stock control, ordering, and storage of medications
- Assist with in-possession and controlled drugs processes
- Maintain accurate patient medication records and documentation
- Ensure compliance with prison security procedures and medicines management legislation
- Work collaboratively with pharmacists, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams
- Support audits, governance, and quality improvement initiatives
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Pharmacy Technician (BTEC / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- Registered with the GPhC
- Current prison clearance (mandatory)
- Previous experience working within a prison or secure environment
- Strong knowledge of medicines management and controlled drugs
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume reception setting
- Enhanced DBS - must be in the update service
