Austin Dean Recruitment is currently recruiting an experienced, prison-cleared Pharmacy Technician to support a busy male reception estate within a secure custodial healthcare setting (prison). This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and organised Pharmacy Technician who is familiar with prison healthcare processes and thrives in a fast-paced, structured environment.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense and assemble medicines accurately in line with prescriptions and SOPs
  • Support medicines reconciliation for new prison receptions
  • Manage stock control, ordering, and storage of medications
  • Assist with in-possession and controlled drugs processes
  • Maintain accurate patient medication records and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with prison security procedures and medicines management legislation
  • Work collaboratively with pharmacists, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Support audits, governance, and quality improvement initiatives

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Pharmacy Technician (BTEC / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
  • Registered with the GPhC
  • Current prison clearance (mandatory)
  • Previous experience working within a prison or secure environment
  • Strong knowledge of medicines management and controlled drugs
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume reception setting
  • Enhanced DBS - must be in the update service
