Location: Shrewsbury On-site requirement: Three days per week Contract: Initial three months, with potential to extend Start date: Immediate Rate: competitive, inside IR35, depending on experience We are seeking an experienced Interim Deputy Group Chief Governance Officer to provide senior leadership across the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Community and Hospitals NHS Group. This is a critical interim appointment supporting the alignment of governance arrangements across two statutory NHS organisations. The successful candidate will provide leadership and stability while the permanent recruitment process is undertaken. Key objectives * Lead the programme of work to align governance arrangements across the Group. * Develop the proposed Group Governance structure and operating model. * Initiate and lead the associated organisational change and consultation process. * Review existing governance structures, reporting lines, accountabilities and decision-making arrangements. * Establish a clear programme plan, milestones, dependencies and governance arrangements. * Engage with Boards, Executive Directors, senior leaders, staff representatives and other key stakeholders. * Ensure that the statutory responsibilities and accountabilities of both NHS organisations are maintained. * Provide strategic governance advice to senior leaders and decision-making bodies. * Support the transition to the agreed Group Governance structure. * Provide an effective handover to the permanent postholder. The successful candidate You will be an accomplished NHS governance leader with: * Significant experience at Deputy Director, Director or VSM level. * Extensive knowledge of NHS corporate and Board governance. * Experience working across multiple NHS organisations, a Group structure, provider collaborative or integrated care environment. * A proven record of developing and implementing complex governance structures. * Experience leading organisational change, consultation and service redesign. * The ability to advise and influence Boards, Chairs, Executive Directors and senior stakeholders. * Strong programme leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication skills. * The credibility and resilience to deliver at pace within a complex environment. * A relevant governance, legal, risk, company secretarial or master’s-level qualification. Previous experience of aligning governance arrangements across separate statutory NHS organisations would be particularly advantageous. Working arrangements The assignment is initially for three months, with the possibility of an extension. The postholder will be expected to work on site at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for three days per week, with the remaining time worked flexibly according to business requirements. The successful candidate must be available to commence the assignment immediately or at very short notice.
