Austin Dean Recruitment is currently seeking caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Healthcare Assistants to support adults with learning disabilities within a vibrant and welcoming Day Care Centre in Cambridge. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking for regular daytime agency work. You will play a key role in helping individuals build confidence, develop independence, learn new skills, and participate in meaningful activities both within the centre and in the local community.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, or complex care requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A person-centred approach and commitment to promoting independence.
  • Good IT skills for maintaining accurate care records.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible, reliable, and professional approach to work.

Compliance Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the DBS Update Service (essential).
  • Up-to-date Mandatory Training, including Safeguarding Adults & Children, Moving & Handling, Basic Life Support, Infection Prevention & Control, Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety, Dementia Care, Fire Safety, First Aid Awareness, Food Hygiene, Medication, GDPR / Data Protection.
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Satisfactory references.
  • Proof of relevant qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support adults with learning disabilities to achieve their personal goals and outcomes.
  • Deliver engaging activities within the Day Care Centre and local community.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and social inclusion.
  • Provide person-centred support, including personal care and medication administration where required.
  • Maintain accurate records using electronic care systems.
  • Contribute to support plans, reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Promote dignity, respect, equality, and safeguarding at all times.
