Interested in history, STEM, education, tourism, and cities? Join The Innovation Trail this summer to help us tell the stories of four centuries of innovation in Boston and Cambridge. This dynamic internship will offer a mix of public engagement, walking tour and scavenger hunt support, event management, content development, and social media management. You will be an essential contributor to a young and growing nonprofit organization, and you will conclude the summer with plenty of experience and work to show for it.

What You’ll Do
This internship entails being in the Boston area this summer, though it will be a mix of remote work and in-person/on-site work in Cambridge and Boston. The internship is 24-32 hours a week, based on your availability. The schedule is flexible, but will include some weekend hours (no more than 4-6 hours on any given weekend). Pay is $20/hr, and you will receive a paycheck once every two weeks. We’re looking for creative, curious, self-directed, and reliable individuals who are excited about innovation, have good presenting and social skills, and are eager to share their enthusiasm with others.
Timeline
We will be accepting applications through May 2nd; conducting interviews the week of May 5th, and selecting a candidate by May 12th. The internship start date can be May 19th, May 27th, or June 2nd based on your schedule. The internship concludes August 22nd, though we are open to continuing on a limited basis into the fall semester.
Important dates before and during this internship
- Consider attending our April 22nd or May 10th tours in Kendall Square, or doing our self-guided walking tour, so that you’re familiar with what we do.
- June 26th (public walking tour)
- July 2nd (public walking tour)
- July 30th (summer board meeting)
Not all these dates are mandatory, but we’d like to know that you could participate in most of these events.
