The Retail Store Designer will be responsible for the concept, design and development of Austen & Blake retail environments, ensuring every showroom reflects the brand’s premium positioning while delivering a highly functional and memorable customer experience. This role requires a strong design eye combined with a deep understanding of luxury retail environments, interior design, spatial planning and technical drawing. You will work closely with teams across the business including Retail Operations, Brand, Marketing, Property and Leadership to bring our retail environments to life. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping us create beautiful, memorable and highly effective retail spaces as we expand our global store network.
How you’ll contribute
- Retail Design & Concept Development
- Design elegant, premium showroom environments aligned with the Austen & Blake brand
- Translate brand strategy into physical retail environments that feel aspirational and welcoming
- Develop store concepts that elevate the customer journey and consultation-led experience
- Ensure every design reflects the craftsmanship, quality and storytelling behind the brand
- Store Planning & Layout
- Produce store layouts, spatial planning and interior concepts for new stores and refurbishments
- Create environments that optimise customer flow, consultation areas and product presentation
- Design spaces that balance aesthetic beauty with operational functionality and commercial performance
- Technical Design & Documentation
- Produce detailed technical drawings, floorplans and elevations for retail environments
- Work closely with architects, contractors and shopfitters to deliver projects to specification
- Ensure designs comply with relevant building regulations and retail standards
- Support the preparation of construction documentation and material specifications
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Retail Operations, Brand, Marketing and Property teams on store development projects
- Work closely with visual merchandising teams on product display and storytelling
- Support leadership teams in developing future store concepts and retail innovation projects
- Store Rollout & Execution
- Support the delivery of new showroom openings and refurbishments across multiple markets
- Manage timelines and ensure design integrity is maintained throughout the build process
- Conduct store visits and provide guidance to ensure execution matches the design vision
- Brand Elevation
- Continuously refine and evolve the Austen & Blake retail environment
- Identify opportunities to enhance the in-store experience through materials, layout, lighting and design details
- Ensure consistency across all showrooms while allowing flexibility for local markets
Tools & Systems Experience
- The successful candidate should have experience using industry-standard retail design tools, including:
- Technical Design & Drawings
- AutoCAD for technical drawings, layouts and construction documentation
- Vectorworks or similar architectural design software
- Experience producing detailed floor plans, elevations and technical specifications
- SketchUp or similar 3D modelling tools
- Rhino or equivalent modelling software
- Design & Creative Tools
- Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
- Ability to develop visual concepts and design presentations
- Experience working with project management tools such as Asana, Monday or similar

- Background in retail design, interior design or architecture
- Strong understanding of technical drawings, spatial planning and retail layouts
- Experience working with architects, contractors and shopfitters
- Excellent aesthetic judgement with a strong eye for materials, finishes and detail
- Strong understanding of how retail environments influence customer behaviour and experience
- Ability to balance design creativity with operational practicality
- Strong project management and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate across multiple teams and stakeholders
- Experience supporting multi-location store rollouts or retail expansion programmes
- Passion for creating exceptional customer experiences through design
