The future of energy is in our hands. Let’s shape it together. We’re all about building an energy future to be proud of. Sound like a challenge you’ve been looking for? We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior HR Business Partner to join our team.

In this role, you will partner closely with senior leaders, leadership teams, and employees to provide day-to-day HR support across your client group. Working closely with the GM People and HR team, you will play a key role in delivering practical, fit-for-purpose people solutions and trusted advice that support business objectives. You'll help bring people strategies to life, partnering with stakeholders to implement strategic HR initiatives and drive positive outcomes across the organisation.

Please note: This role operates on a hybrid working model, with a minimum of three days per week based in our Southbank office.

What you’ll be doing in this role:

  • Partner with leaders to build capability and provide the tools, advice, and support needed to lead high-performing teams.
  • Enable the successful delivery of business priorities, innovation, and change by aligning people initiatives with organisational needs and collaborating across the People & Safety team.
  • Support workforce planning initiatives by identifying current and future workforce requirements and implementing people solutions that support business growth, project lifecycles, and operating model changes.
  • Lead talent, succession, and critical role planning activities, ensuring development initiatives are embedded and consistently delivered across the business.
  • Partner with leaders to drive employee engagement, using insights and feedback to identify opportunities and deliver targeted improvement initiatives.
  • Design and deliver practical people solutions aligned to business priorities and strategic objectives.
  • Support organisational change initiatives, ensuring a smooth transition and alignment with broader business goals.
  • Use people data and insights to support informed decision-making and strengthen capability, performance, and diversity across teams.
  • Manage end-to-end employee and industrial relations matters, providing advice in line with policies, enterprise agreements, and legislation while assessing and mitigating risk.
  • Support the development of leadership and core organisational capabilities aligned with AusNet's culture and values.
  • Champion an inclusive culture that supports collaboration, engagement, and the achievement of strategic business objectives.
  • Contribute to the delivery of People & Safety services by applying workplace health, safety, and cyber security requirements in day-to-day activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, standards, and internal policies, while driving continuous improvement and positive business outcomes.

You don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for a good combination of:

  • Tertiary qualification in HR and/or Business or other related discipline required at minimum.
  • 8-10+ years’ HR experience with at least 5 years in senior HR roles on large scale/major infrastructure, energy, or construction projects (full project lifecycle preferred and experience in joint ventures, consortiums, or EPC contracts highly regarded).
  • Demonstrated experience in complex employee and industrial relations with the ability to manage end-to-end ER and complex performance management cases.
  • Sound understanding of relevant legislative environment and labour regulations and implications in which the role operates within.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and demonstrated ability to initiate, build, and maintain trusted and effective working relationships and partnerships with all levels of management within the business, colleagues, and other internal and external stakeholders including the ability to influence and negotiate to produce efficient and effective outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to operate in a project environment with remote workforces, contractors, and multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity and influence without authority across a matrix environment.
  • Ability to explore business needs in a data-driven way and balance business need with compliance and employee advocacy.

The AusNet experience is all about…

  • Solving some of the most complex energy challenges of our time: We love unpacking complex challenges in clever ways and looking at things differently.
  • Being part of a team that cares deeply about each other: We share in the good times. We support in the tough times. And we’re humble through and through.
