Role Overview: We are looking to appoint an experienced and proactive purchasing manager to manage our procurement and supply chain activities. This key role involves sourcing critical components, building and maintaining strong supplier relationships, talking directly to customers to deliver their needs, and ensuring smooth collaboration across departments such as quality and manufacturing. Experience with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and Aston Martin systems is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate directly with customers to ensure their needs are met and maintain a smooth uninterrupted delivery of parts to all customers
- Source and procure automotive electrical and electronic components, along with many other part categories, ensuring quality, lead-time, and cost targets are met
- Develop and manage supplier relationships, conducting performance reviews and ensuring compliance with procurement standards
- Liaise closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to align sourcing with project needs
- Apply knowledge of JLR and Aston Martin systems to enhance compatibility and efficiency in sourcing processes
- Act as a calm, effective problem-solver, resolving any supply chain issues with a solutions-focused approach
- Maintain accurate documentation of procurement activities, including contracts, supplier data, and performance metrics
- Monitor market trends and technological advancements relevant to automotive electronics and component sourcing
- Other related activities as deemed appropriate for the business
Person Specification:
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in sourcing electrical and electronic components for the automotive sector
- Direct knowledge of, or experience with, JLR and Aston Martin procurement and engineering systems
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers, customers, and colleagues at all levels
- Calm and re-assuring under pressure with excellent problem-solving capabilities
- Organised and detail-oriented with experience of working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 quality standards and automotive industry requirements
- Working knowledge of PPAP, FMEA, IMDS, and REACH compliance processes
- Familiarity with Sage Line 50 is an advantage
