Aurora is a distributed, fault-tolerant database service, leveraging a self-healing storage system which performs up to five times faster than standard MySQL databases and three times faster than standard PostgreSQL databases. Aurora is one of the fastest-growing AWS services, with business and engineering decisions having a widespread impact across many of the world's fastest growing businesses! Operating much like a start-up, we have a very flat organizational structure and a casual office vibe, but leverage all the resources and stability of being the largest cloud provider. The AWS Aurora CP Developer Experience team explores how to improve Aurora experience for customers, including projects such as Ultra Fast Create that reduced cluster creation time from 6 minutes to few seconds. We are looking for Software Development Engineers who have built a lot of software – shipped products, management console, services and modules. You should be passionate about optimizing the software development experience at a very large scale, using your strong technical skills and motivation to achieve results. You are naturally enthusiastic about learning new technologies and industry trends and are excited by the idea of solving hard technical challenges.
Aurora is a part of AWS Utility Computing (UC) which provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services. - Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Experience in professional, non-internship software development
- Experience leading the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- Experience in development in the last 3 years
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
